President’s Message, October 2010

If you missed the September meeting you missed a powerful speaker. Mr. Bob DeSena, founder of the Council for Unity, a nationally recognized group promoting unity, safety and achievement in schools and communities, gave an insightful and informative presentation.

Good job by John Colorundo, as he once again ran our annual Edward P, Henson Sr. Memorial Golf Outing at the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa. This event was a great success as witnessed by all who attended.

Mr. Ted Kollar, President and CEO of Patterson Fuel has advised us that due to a computer “glitch” they have lost track of their client’s organizational affiliation. Therefore let either Patterson or us know if you are presently a client so they can be sure that you are receiving the benefits you due you.

Sunday December 5th, is the date for this years Shields Children’s Christmas Party. Mike Villa and his elves are hard at work planning an enjoyable function for member’s children and grandchildren. Bob Forrester is busy finding Santa for the children.

At our Thursday meeting we will begin our annual toy collection for the children less fortunate. Please remember to bring a n unwrapped toy.

Tuesday November 2nd is Election Day. Remember to take the time to vote. Many incompetents are in office today because some of us chose to stay home and not vote.

On a personal note, I wish to congratulate Shields Attorney and my friend, Pete Cardalena . Pete was recently chosen by the students at St. John’s University as the 2010 Professor of the Year at the College of Professional Studies .

Our tentative guest speaker for our December meeting will be Mr. Daniel Murphy, the father of Medal of Honor recipient Navy Seal Lt. Michael Patrick Murphy who was killed at 29 years of age in Afghanistan in June 2005. Mr. Murphy will bring autographed copies of the book Seal of Honor for those who wish to purchase it.

Remember November 11th is Veterans Day, fly your proudly!

Hope we see you at the November 4th meeting, bring a potential new member.. If not have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Pray for our troops who defend us at home and abroad every day

Fraternally,
Richie
