President’s Message, December 2004

Well I guess by now all the leaves have fallen and we should be anticipating the happy holiday season, instead of the outrageous utility bills we will be receiving.

I would like to thank the nominating committee and membership for their endorsement and re-electing us for the years 2005/06. Welcome to the new members of our board also. We will try hard to reward your confidence in us.

The first order of business for 2005 is to announce that once again we will run our popular dinner/dance featuring Ermil Stuccio and The Classics on Saturday, November 5th. Partial proceeds will be shared with the NYPD PBA Widows and Survivors Fund and the National Police Support Network – hope we see you there.

We have been informed that there will be a further delay in the issuance of NYPD retiree ID cards due to H.R.218. There seems to be a lot of confusion.

Don’t forget Sean and Jenn Kelleher have a great holiday party planned for our children, so please be fair to them and get.your application in quickly.

We will be having our annual scholarship drawings at the DeĀcember 9th meeting. If you have any questions, contact Mike Villa and he will help you.

Joe Wolff has informed me that retired NYPD Chief Robert Johnston has consented to be our guest speaker. He will relate some of his experiences “on the job” ie: “war stories.”

Don’t forget to bring a toy to the December meeting for a disadvantaged child. You’ll make them happy and feel better for it.

Have a safe and healthy holiday. If we don’t see you at the meeting or children’s holiday party, see you in 2005.

God bless the men and women serving our armed forces.

Fraternally,
Rich
